Standing Together is the largest grassroots Arab-Jewish movement in Israel, leading interconnected struggles for peace, equality, and social justice. This past year has proved just how vital our movement is, and now we need your help to keep fighting for a better future in 2022.

The current socio-political reality in Israel is unbearable. The occupation feeds unceasing violence, fear, and hatred between Israelis and Palestinians. Meanwhile, the gaps within society are growing incessantly: poverty is deepening, the distress of the peripheries is getting worse, the Palestinian national minority in Israel is discriminated against, and many other groups — including women, Mizrahim, immigrants from Ethiopia and the former USSR, the LGBTQ+ community, the elderly, and people with disabilities — are marginalized and lack the resources they need. Working people are being forced to work longer hours at unfair and stagnating wages, while the cost of living continues to soar ever higher.

The compounding crises of the past year have made this clearer than ever before. From a pandemic that has plunged us all into an economic and social crisis, but hit the weakest populations the hardest; to an unprecedented escalation in violence and division between Jews and Palestinians in Israel’s so-called mixed cities; to yet another war on Gaza which sent Israelis running to rocket shelters while Palestinians in Gaza had no escape; to a crisis of politics and democracy in Israel that threatened never to end; and to a climate crisis which threatens the future of everyone, but especially the youngest generations.

Throughout all of this, and during some of the darkest moments we’ve experienced as a society, Standing Together mobilized tens of thousands of Palestinians and Jews in Israel — onto the streets, in the media, and across the online networks — to demand peace, to demand equality, and to demand social, economic and climate justice.  

Standing Together is a pillar of hope that constantly challenges the unjust and unequal status quo while creating a platform from which to imagine a shared future where we are all free and equal. When we stand together, we are strong enough to fundamentally alter the existing reality. The future that we want to see — with peace and independence for Israelis and Palestinians, full equality for all citizens, and true social and environmental justice — is possible. Because where there is struggle, there is hope.
