Torah Under Attack

Over the recent years Yeshivas Ohr Hatalmud (St Louis, France) has been victim to the attacks of the anti-Semitic Head of Province who caused the Yeshiva to plunge into astronomical debt. Now that Bs”d the Head of Province has been removed from his position, the Yeshiva needs your help to enable it to flourish once again.

Yeshivas Ohr Hatalmud, St. Louis, France is a successful reproduction of the “Teivas Noach” , shielding youth from France, Switzerland and other countries from the dangers of the outside influences of today and directing their energies towards Torah learning.

The Yeshiva is situated in St. Louis,France  bordering both Switzerland and Germany. Founded 40 years ago by the Rosh Yeshiva , Hagaon Harav Reuven Meyer shlita and Harav Moshe (Marco) Meyer shlita, under the direction of Maran Hagaon R’Moshe Soloveichik zt”l and later of Maran Hagaon R’Aharon Yehuda Leib Steinman zt”l, the Yeshiva was the first Yeshiva Ketana with only Limudei Kodesh in the entire region.

The Yeshiva has hundreds of alumni, most of them Avreichim, a significant number of whom have continued on to be Marbizei Torah, Roshei Yeshivos and Rabbonim.  

Four years ago the Head of Province began to cause problems to the Yeshiva and Beis Yaacov/Talmud Torah, challenging Jewish Education and forcing the Yeshiva to make useless changes to the existing building to the cost of nearly half a million euro. 

This was not enough for the Head of Province who wanted to see the Yeshiva’s closure no matter whether the requirements were met or not. He sent the Mayor to convince the Rosh Yeshiva to close before more debts would be incurred.

Miraculously the Head of Province, was removed from his position, and peace has returned.  He may be gone, but the debts have remained. The responsibility of this tremendous burden lies on the current devoted Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Yaacov Halevi Meyer shlit”a,  who cannot possibly carry it alone.

In this situation the very existence of the Yeshiva is threatened. The Yeshiva has set out to recruit funds and secure a sum which will allow it to pay off its debts, and remove it from the brink of closure.
