A year of learning in Israel is of paramount importance. It strengthens the individuals and in turn strengthens the whole community. It’s a year of growth, learning and making friendships that stay forever.
Mizrachi Canada has been granting Canada’s largest scholarships for decades supporting hundreds of Canadian students from all streams of Judaism in their year of learning in Israel.
However, in the current climate, attending Yeshivot and Midrashot in Israel year is at risk for most young adults from the Canadian community and requires Mizrachi Canada’s ability to grant scholarships to be strengthened in order to support more students.
Indeed, the tuition costs have increased dramatically over the past years and many of the Institutions in Israel are struggling financially and are therefore unable to give the same level of scholarships to incoming students. In addition, because of budgetary constraints, MASA has cut much of their support for students attending Yeshivot and Midrashot. Finally, the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the economy, the Canadian dollar is lower than ever making it more difficult for additional families to support their children in this crucial year of their young adult life.
In this context, Mizrachi Canada is launching an emergency crowdfunding campaign to save the 2020-2021 Year in Israel.
Please participate in this campaign! We must raise $100,000 to ensure young adults can receive a scholarship and attend Yeshivot and Midrashot in Israel. By supporting them, you strengthen in return our community that will benefit from those young people’s stronger sense of mission and commitment to the ideals our community holds dear, Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael and Torat Yisrael.
