WE ONLY HAVE 48 HOURS - EMERGENCY FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

JICNY is a small organization that impacts so many.  We are a community for young immigrants And all people new to New York.

In the last few years we have grown to offer 200 events a year and to serve thousands of people. The JICNY has struggled financially to keep up with our growth.  Our 3 year UJA grant ended at the end of June and we are facing tough questions about our future, sustaining our programming and continuing with our mission.

In order to continue operating, we need your help.  Although people pay a fee for the majority of JICNY events, most of that money goes to actually paying for the event itself; only a very small percentage of those fees goes toward keeping the organization operating.

If the JICNY has impacted your life or if you believe in the mission, then donate now (click on DONATE button above).

We have 48 hours to achieve our goal.  Your support counts.  If WE CAN RAISE $20,000, this amount will be MATCHED.  Please make a donation today to help us continue our programming (click on DONATE button above).

JICNY POSITIVELY IMPACTS LIVES:

Jonathan Nadjari, Native of France

“I came from France to the US around 12 years ago.  I was really by myself when I arrived in the Upper West Side.  I got introduced very quickly to the JICNY team (Steve, Jodi and Gavin).  They helped first to find some families for shabbos dinner and lunch, and I became more and more familiar with the JICNY events and then joined their networking group; that group helped me a lot to start my own business and develop my clientele.  Baruch Hashem, now I'm leaving in Brooklyn, married with 4 kids, and I will never forget all the help that JICNY gave and still gives me.  I would like to express my hakaras atov for the JICNY team and Hazak Hubaruch!!!”

David Bratslavsky, Native of Georgia

"For many people, myself included, coming to New York required making new friends, becoming part of a community, and connecting to Jewish values on a busy schedule.  Each of these things are hard enough on their own.  Somehow JICNY manages to enable all three.  It's where I found great friends, Shabbat meals, outdoor activities, holiday plans, that have made my living in New York fun and meaningful.

I also like that JICNY is almost entirely volunteer driven, so that whenever I have an opportunity to contribute to JICNY either with time or financially, I know the contribution is well spent."

Gedalia Mendlewicz, Native of Belgium

"I volunteer for Steve Eisenberg’s uplifting classes on Monday nights and volunteer for the JICNY Galas. I met Steve Eisenberg four and a half years ago at his Monday night class on the Upper West Side. I have come to know Steve Eisenberg as being a very unique person who does not judge people and does so much for the community as a volunteer; he is a real blessing in this world. Steve Eisenberg is my master, teacher, rabbi, leader, mentor, friend, holy brother and hero. Steve Eisenberg chose to co-found an organization that would help the survival of the Jewish people."

"Being an Isramerican has always been an integral part of my life. I was born in Brooklyn to Israeli parents; my mother was born in Tunisia and my father comes from a Persian background. I attended the Yeshiva of Flatbush in Brooklyn and had the privilege of making Aliyah when I was twelve.

When I came back to New York to continue my studies in the arts, I felt there was a large void and a lack of community in my life and was looking for ways to re-connect with my Jewish roots. Enter JICNY. Jewish International Connection of New York has, without a doubt, turned into a second home for me. Jodi and Gavin Samuels have welcomed me into their home and hearts, as they do with many other young Jews. It is a place where I feel completely accepted and welcomed as a member of the Jewish community and as an individual from a diverse ethnic background."

Stephanie Dahan, Native of France

“I was born in Nice, France and I came to NY in 2004.  A friend introduced me to JICNY and then I started attending regularly. I met Jodi through all the events and dinners she hosted at her home. I especially love the Shabbat dinners and always try to register early enough to secure a spot. JICNY has made a major impression on my life in NY. Jodi and her organization gave me a sense of anchor, which was the missing piece in my life.”

Rebecca Akselrad, Native of America

"I first encountered the JICNY, when I was living on the Upper West Side. In my opinion, JICNY is an extraordinary organization because it offers a prism into the diverse demographics of New York City through the lens of the Jewish community. Every time I attend an event, I am simply enamored by the living mission, as it exists in reality because it transcends the anonymous nature of New York and in turn makes such a powerful impact on countless individuals.

As a globetrotter, I am always stepping outside of my home country in order to experience the beauty of Jewish communities in other countries. Without packing a backpack, JICNY has replicated the magic of a Latino, Jewish experience, which I deeply desire, within the microcosm of my own home."

With thanks,
Jodi & Gavin Samuels & Steve Eisenberg
