Meet Dan*.

Dan is a 26 year-old university student studying law and governmental studies at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel.

But Dan is much more than a student.  Dan, is a former IDF soldier, an ISRAELI HERO. But Dan needs YOUR help.

After enlisting in the IDF in 2011, Dan served in the prestigious Reconnaissance Battalion of the Golani Brigade. Rather than the minimum three year mandatory service, he volunteered to extend his enlistment serving as a commanding officer for a total of six years.

In July 2014, Israel launched Operation Protective Edge against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. During this operation, Dan served as a platoon commander of the 13th battalion of the Golani Brigade.

During one top-secret mission mission, Dan and his platoon of 11 soldiers were ordered to take control of an enemy structure. As the commander, Dan threw a hand grenade from his platoon’s armored vehicle into the structure to clear a path for the soldiers.

In a horrific accident, the grenade that Dan threw hit an obstacle in the structure and bounced back into his armored vehicle. In an exemplary act of LEADERSHIP AND HEROISM, Dan immediately jumped on the grenade, determined to save the lives of the soldiers under his command.

Dan was severely wounded in his left arm and right leg. After two extensive surgeries, Dan continues to experience pain and has been diagnosed with a medical condition known as Drop Foot, which has left him with significant disability.

Doctors agree that the ONLY EFFECTIVE TREATMENT for this condition is for Dan to be fit for a specialized brace, an IDEO brace, which will alleviate his pain and allow him to regain full use of his leg.

There is ONLY ONE clinic in Washington, D.C. that  makes IDEO braces, fits them to patients, and provides individuals with the necessary training and rehabilitation to properly and effectively use the braces.

Dan is desperately seeking the funds to make a trip to Washington to be fit for an IDEO brace. The total cost of Dan’s trip to Washington, medical expenses, rehabilitation and accommodations is $20,000.

A generous donor has offered to MATCH every DOLLAR DONATED to this cause. Together, we can help Dan get to Washington and get the help he needs.

Dan entered the Gaza Strip to protect and defend the People and the Land of Israel.

Dan was wounded saving the lives of his fellow soldiers.

Dan is a hero.

Heal this Israeli hero.
