What if you could cure cancer? You can!
#Run4Life in the Jerusalem Marathon, March 15, 2019 with Gift of Life
Meet Amy.
She loves yoga, working out – and running. Running has always been an integral part of her life, the activity that gave her joy and filled her with energy.
But five years ago, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and she not only couldn’t run, she could barely walk.
Still, Amy would not give up. “I learned to take advantage of every sweet moment that I had some energy…I would walk laps around the hospital floor with a smile on my face, and assured everyone that I would win.”
Her only hope of survival was a blood stem cell transplant – she was one of the fortunate ones: she had a perfect matching donor.
But not everyone has a match. While thousands need stem cell or marrow transplants each year, there are not enough donors in the registry to save every patient battling blood cancer.
You can help! Every person who swabs their cheek and joins the registry has the potential to cure someone’s cancer.
But every swab kit costs $60 to process. For $180, we can add three donors!
We invite you to run in the Jerusalem Marathon or donate to our cause and help us add more lifesaving donors to the registry. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to add 500 donors to the registry, so that more people like Amy will be able to run again.
Amy survived leukemia thanks to her stem cell transplant, and is now back to running. On January 13, she ran her fastest time ever in Gift of Life’s Steps for Life 5k, coming in as Top 3 Overall Female in Third Place. “It’s not because I’m fast, I’m not,” said Amy. “It’s just what you call a warrior Kicking Butt!”
Be a warrior like Amy. Fight to cure blood cancer.
