Help Jewish Students Face Antisemitism
A New Take On an Old Story
Antisemitism is a big problem. And a growing problem.
We tend to see things in black and white and may see antisemitism as a problem that would just disappear if the “other side” thought like us. Or if some Jews would not draw so much attention to themselves. Or if another group of Jews would act differently.
Being so busy playing the blame game, many people aren’t aware of how deep antisemitism runs. They don’t recognize its true nature or know how far back it goes.
Or how much of a problem it really is.
Young Jews need help to acknowledge, recognize and understand antisemitism.
Antisemitism isn’t always blatant and clear. It isn’t always headline-grabbing hate crimes and violent news footage, like what we saw on the streets of LA, London and New York during the fighting between Israel and Hamas in May 2021.
It’s often more insidious and subtle. That’s what makes it so dangerous.
To prepare young people to stand up against antisemitism, OpenDor Media is producing a series of YouTube videos for Unpacked written by award-winning journalist Yair Rosenberg, who has spent a decade covering antisemitism in all its shapes and forms. Accessible, current, and in a language young people understand.
Your donation will go directly to educating students by unpacking how to recognize antisemitism and understanding how it affects Jewish identity and community.
The short videos will debunk common myths, using real-world illustrative antisemitic incidents and snippets from interviews with experts and victims. The series will address hard questions, like why antisemitism is so hard to fight, whether criticism for Israel equals antisemitism, and whether antisemitism is unique to a particular Jewish political, religious or ideological group.
We can’t prevent antisemitism but this video series will give Jewish students the tools they need to recognize, acknowledge and understand the roots of antisemitism so they are prepared to fight baseless hatred wherever, and whenever, it rears its ugly head.
To carry out this important mission we need your help.
Your support will help us produce and distribute the video series, on YouTube and via educational programs. Our goal: reach 150,000 students in 500 educational institutions in one year.
Thanks to a group of generous donors, every dollar you give to this campaign will be matched.
It can’t happen without you.
Please join with us to bring this important project to life. Together we can prepare Jewish students to fight antisemitism they face today, and antisemitism they will face as the proud Jewish families they will create tomorrow.
